The reasons the transition was delayed are because they need time so it would be more phased, some people are not ready, and they need to finance the process. Lawmakers and coporations are opposed to this delay because they believe it will only cause confusion and it has caused disruption for over the air programming. Also, they believe that no longer how long they wait to do the transition, people still won't understand what is going on. Consumers that have an analog TV signal will have to change their TV equipment. Government coupons that are being sent so people can get a free switch haven't been recieved by the consumers, which is making the process far more difficult. The benefits of this switch is that wireless and public safety companies will use the signal for themselves. This means that it will provide the customers with new, improved, and uninteruppted services.
